of grave foundational matters...

i was in court today, please dont ask how my matter went. if i wasn't being represented by another lawyer, i'd have run out of the courtroom screaming in shame. some small administrative error meant that as far as the court was concerned, i was invisible to it and was not being represented. like i said, don't ask. unexpectedly (to me at least), as soon as the court made it clear that this was an issue, the opposing counsel capitalized on this small matter and kept beginning every sentence with "in view of this grave foundational matter, my lord...". the silly nincompoop, but i swear i will get my day in court and will feed him the judges old dirty socks. luckily the judge is well versed and shot down all the other lawyer's needless rhetorics and simply adjourned the matter to allow us correct the mistake.

and so i got back to the office pretty miffed and wondering why on earth that sort of avoidable error occured in the first place, and how bad it could have been. as i work in a non-law setting and my boss is the only other lawyer within miles, i had noone to whine to. i mean, people's eyes tend to glaze over once i start saying "so second defendants counsel then stood up and tried to interject, but the court rejected the argument put forth by claimant counsel...but first defendant counsel still hadn't moved his application for interlocutory injunction against the claimant"...its when i start hearing my listener go, "oh okkaayyy. riiiight", that i realize they're planning their grocery list in their head as i speak.

so to cheer myself up, i decide to do the blog rounds. blogging is like writing a diary to the world...and so every other blog seems to bring unexpected topics, perspectives and opinion to life and the general "speaking to oneself to the hearing of the world" thing amuses me to no end. and it totally cheered me up! after stumbling on quite a few amazing blogs, i've decided to share them cos there are indeed amazing writers out there that remind me that i'm not quite all that and a bag of chips, yet.

so here they are, please drop by them at least once, before deciding if they're your thing.

1. dollchic (just her life shared with us periodicially) http://dollchic.blogspot.com/  ,
2. GINGER (my new favourite blogger who just wrote this intense post on the culture of rape - mind blowing intellect) http://www.mak2chi.com/
3. madame sting (critical, troublesome, says things as they are - and starts a blog post with "if you're a bright and intelligent woman, please dumb yourself down"...you can imagine the divaness of this blogger) http://www.nigerianscorpio.com/
4. when red means go (i cant ever stop laughing at this girly girl who's not ashamed to be girly - you must read 'the magic bullet' post. hilarious i tell you) http://www.whenredmeansgo.com/
5. toinlicious (i think she's my twin cos she writes very from the heart) http://toinlicious.blogspot.com/

the only male written blog (so i think) that was not a waste of time was the controversial blog "TRUTH DON DIE" but then they became blasphemous for controversy sake and it stopped being a genuine challenge of our illogically held beliefs but a mere ridiculing of anything sacred, even where rightly so held. so i got off that train, although i heard they won a blog award for, you guessed it, controversy.

i will not be sharing the link to the foreign bloggers who start rumours and insult celebs as a way of gaining relevance like sandrarose.com or necolebitchie.com, because quite frankly they add no value to human advancement or true entertainment. its the same way i wouldn't recommend linda ikeji's blog. so yeah, i've done my bit by pointing y'all to the most ingenious bloggers i know...let me know which ones you read that i would be happy to stumble on.

see y'all around peeps.

Look at this picture. That's one of the children being rescued from a collapsed school building in Lagos, Nigeria. You don't have a be a parent and I won't pander to your better instincts. Tell me this is acceptable or should be allowed to occur again. The President sent condolence messages and the Governor visited the site then said the state emergency services will do all they can cliched response. the end. and people moved on. The heartbreaking pictures of the children pulled out half dazed with cement dust all over their little noses (Exhibit A) did not let me sleep last night. I have gone to drop a comment on the governor's pages on all social media platforms that we need #MoreThanPlatitudes 🚫❌ We need to hear what policy changes are triggered by the death of these babies. The Commissioner of Education must address Lagosians and set up a project team with the Commissioner for Works or Town Planning etc to undertake an immediate structural integrity test

of #BalanceForBetter

With the global movement shifting women forward, making them outspoken and addressing negative patriarchal activities that have gone on for decades...it has been a great year for moving women forward. The concept of gender equality is now universally accepted and even religious leaders have come to openly embrace the concept as not being against godly teachings. The place of the woman is now everywhere, no more is her definition of success measured by the ability to be submissive to a man or to cook and iron and clean. And although feminism is still under attack in half the world where conservative traditional way of life still holds sway, there has been immense improvement in female child education, reduction of female genital mutilation, plus girl child marriage and trafficking is being fought head on. It is a great time to be a woman. This year, companies and corporate organizations around the world are making a conscious effort to balance the pay gap in the workplace. When H
